Information about how we handle and process your data

At Bridgend County Labour Party we believe that it is important to be able to keep in touch with constituents about local issues, our work as a local party and any casework/referrals that your representatives take up on your behalf.

As a Labour Party constituency there maybe information that we as a party may use for campaigning purposes or for communicating with other Labour party branches and/or members. In respect of this, The Labour Party is the data controller, and you should consult their privacy policy (https://labour.org.uk/privacy-policy) for details of what information they hold, why and how they use and process that information.

The page explains how we, as a branch collects and uses personal data, the legal basis for doing so and provides information about your rights in respect of your personal data for which the branch secretary is the data controller.

Data Collection & Use

The Bridgend County Labour Party will only collect and use personal information for the specific purpose for which it has been obtained.

Our ward councillors may undertake casework using personal information provided by or on behalf of a constituent. It may be necessary for us to share your information with the Local Government Authority (Bridgend County Borough Council's Privacy Policy can be found here: https://www.bridgend.gov.uk/my-council/freedom-of-information/data-protection/ . They will only do where it is necessary and reasonable to do so, and they will share only the minimum amount of personal information necessary in order to advocate on your behalf. Please see the “who we share your information with” section for further details.

When completing forms on this website or by completing a form or survey sent to you by my us, you may be asked for personal information. In each case, We will ask for your explicit consent to use your information, and we will only use it for the purposes for which you provide it.

We may communicate by email about our work and to give you the latest news on our branch campaigns and opportunities to get involved.

We will only send emails where you have provided explicit consent for us to do so. You may withdraw your consent or unsubscribe at any time from communications in any medium by contacting our Data Protection Officer or by using the unsubscribe option we provide in all communications.

We will not use personal data for any automated decision making or profiling.

Who we share your information with

When a party Councillor takes up casework on your behalf, it may be necessary for them to share the details you provide with departments of the local authority. They will only share as much information as is necessary to take your case forward. If you have any questions or concerns about how information you provide as part of a casework request is used, please contact the branch's Data Protection Officer for more information.

Other than in the circumstances above, We will not share personal information with other organisations without your explicit consent.

Rentention of personal data

The branch/councillors will only keep your personal information for as long as it is necessary to fulfil the purposes described in this policy. Information relating to casework will only be retained for as long as it is necessary to resolve or otherwise complete your request.

If you have consented to receive information about our work, We will only retain your personal information whilst your consent is given.

We will regularly review the personal information we hold to ensure that its use is necessary and proportionate.

Your Rights
